Live Healthy Gwinnett Internships

Live Healthy Gwinnett will be accepting Summer 2026 internship applications in January! This is an ideal unpaid internship opportunity for students pursuing an academic and on-the-job training experience. Selected candidates will experience first-hand knowledge about the roles that Live Healthy Gwinnett plays within County Government, the Gwinnett community, and partner initiatives. Through multiple collaborating tasks, the interns will gain leadership experience, communication skills, increase their problem-solving and decision-making abilities and expand their professional networking contacts.

Ideal Candidates:

  • Public Health or Public Administration majors
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Great interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills
  • Flexible schedule and be able to work up to 40 hours per week (whole or half days), Monday – Saturday

Natalie is a rising senior at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga majoring in Exercise and Health Science with a minor in Chemistry. Natalie enjoys all the social, mental, and physical aspects of health and wellness and plans to become a dietitian to share her passion of eating nutritiously with others. Natalie is excited to be joining us as an Empower Gwinnett Intern and looks forward to seeing how community health programs operate behind the scenes.

Sulaiman Ilyas

Sulaiman has just completed his first year at Kennesaw State University where he is on track to earning a bachelor’s degree in biology. Sulaiman has a passion for helping and educating others. You can find him watching sports or working out frequently. Sulaiman understands the importance of mental and physical health and factors that can influence that. Sulaiman is joining Live Healthy Gwinnett in June 2026. He is excited to give back to his community and help others become a better version of themselves in a creative and optimal way.

Samuel Chacko

Samuel Chacko is a recent graduate of the University of Georgia, where he earned a degree in Health Promotion with a concentration in Behavioral Medicine. He is passionate about public health, disease prevention, and helping communities access resources that support healthier lives.

Samuel also works as an EMT serving the Metro Atlanta area, where he has gained valuable experience working with diverse populations and witnessed firsthand the importance of prevention, health education, and access to healthcare. These experiences have strengthened his appreciation for both community health initiatives and direct service to others.

As a Live Healthy Gwinnett intern, Samuel is excited to support programs that encourage healthy lifestyles and connect residents with resources that promote overall well-being. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, staying active, and participating in church and community activities.

Camp Strong4Life Internship

Camp Strong4Life is an overnight healthy habits camp for kids 8 to 12 years old who have overweight or obesity (BMI greater than the 85th percentile). Camp Strong4Life is one of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's nine summer camp programs that provides kids a sense of belonging through a traditional summer camp experience. Our Strong4Life healthy habits meet your favorite outdoor activities: archery, rock climbing and more! Camp week is held in June each summer at Camp Twin Lakes in Rutledge, GA. Students or professionals who are interested in the internship role can apply here.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Start Date: January 6, 2025
  • End Date: May 2, 2025
  • Location: Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Support Center (1575 Northeast Expressway, Atlanta)
  • Hours: Monday through Thursday 8:00am to 4:00pm; 32 hours per week (May work some weekends)
  • Compensation: Unpaid Internship

Qualifications:

  • Preferred background in allied health
  • Previous camp or youth experience
  • Understanding of Children's organization, camp mission and objectives
  • Desire and ability to learn about project management, program planning, and health promotion
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, and Canva)

Responsibilities:

  • Support camp orientation and camp week program planning
  • Assist with camper and volunteer application process
  • Develop camp resources for campers and volunteers
  • Develop education materials for families to promote healthy habits
  • Stay informed on current health trends, policies, and best practices for overweight and obesity prevention, intervention, and treatment
  • May represent Children's by attending events in the community
  • May support other obesity prevention and intervention programing
